I joined some Real Estate Investing Forums just to sit back and see what I could learn, mostly about investing in properties in different areas of the country. To my surprise, I’ve learned much more than I ever thought I would, and yesterday, I was referred to someone who I feel will become a huge part of my real estate network.
My primary goal in the forum has been achieved. I gained much insight as to what areas are good, which areas are not, and what to look out for (like high property tax rates and unemployment, pro-tenant cities, and real estate scams that are taking place).
What I didn’t except was to find a resource to help me build my real estate network in different areas I want to begin expanding into. I was very interested in an area only 90 minutes from where I live, and wanted a good realtor referral. One of the gals on one of the real estate investing forums I belonged to always seemed to be very savvy and ethical, so I e-mailed her outside of the forum and asked for a referral. She gave me a great one.
The realtor I spoke to was very knowledgeable, open minded about creative strategies I was planning on using, and agreed to do some research for me to see if her market is a possible new investment area of mine. The bonus will be if I do begin working with her, she can then refer me to others in her real estate network, and in no time, I should be up and running with a new team in my new market.
On this forum, I’ve seen real estate referrals for everything from hard money lenders, attorneys, CPA’s, and land developers - the list goes on.
Building a real estate network does not have to be hard, and when you put yourself out there by joining groups like investor clubs or real estate investment forums, the contacts you make may surprise you!

Another good one to take a peek at is my primary hangout online, the Real Estate Investment Network (myREINspace.com). Great folks, and we’re all about the hard information, economic fundamentals and what the reality is.
Cheers,
Chris
